Not all optics fabrication is being sent offshore.  US optics fabricators continue to benefit from a strong, captive home market that requires leading-edge technology.

The highest-performance coatings, needed for the most demanding applications, are only available stateside at premium prices.  Most medical device optics are still made in USA because of strict FDA guidelines and quality requirements.  And, of course, US military hardware is almost always restricted by ITAR regulations to US-based or qualfiied offshore sources.  US optics fabricators also offer the convenience of producing or modifying custom parts in 1-2 weeks.

Naturally, when our customers have demanding applications, especially for ion-assisted deposition (IAD) or ion beam sputtered (IBS) coatings, or need fast turnaround time, we rely upon our established network of domestic US optics polishers and coaters.
